About Lensmind Optics — Zhongshan HQ, Hangzhou Factory

The People Behind 26 Years of Optical Practice

Lensmind Optics is run by a founding team whose career backgrounds cover both sides of the optics business — 20 years in lens R&D and product management at China Aerospace (CASC) and Hikvision, and 26 years in quality, procurement and sales management at Asia Optical, Foxconn, LG Display and Sunny Optical. We built this company so international buyers could source precision lenses from a team that has personally been accountable for both design and volume delivery.

The Founding Team

Team Members’ Career Backgrounds: R&D Depth × Manufacturing Discipline

Datasheets that flatter the lens, and production batches that drift from the approved sample — the two failures every overseas buyer has met. One founder spent a career on the micron that decides the MTF curve; the other on the supply chain where a drifting batch costs a customer. Lensmind is both sides reporting to the same small team.

R&D Co-Founder, Optical R&D & Engineering

Zhejiang University optics · CASC · Hikvision

A Zhejiang University optics graduate with 20 years in the field, including R&D and product management at China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) and Hikvision. At Lensmind he owns lens design, opto-mechanical integration and the technical review of every custom project — including the authority to push back when a specification will not survive production.

MFG Co-Founder, Manufacturing, Quality & Supply Chain

26 years · Asia Optical · Foxconn · Sunny Optical

A 26-year optics industry veteran with quality, procurement and sales management roles at Asia Optical, Foxconn, LG Display and Sunny Optical. At Lensmind he owns production planning, supplier quality and the batch-consistency regime behind our 10K+ unit deliveries — including the batch test reports that ship with every order.

What we deliberately do not claim. These are team members’ career backgrounds — facts about where our founders worked. We do not claim endorsements from any former employer, and we do not publish names or photos before the founders approve them. The only guarantees are the ones written into your contract.

Optical R&D in the aerospace sector (CASC)

Design discipline: tolerance analysis and verification where failure is not an option. “26 years” is accumulated practice, not a company anniversary — registered 2019, ISO 9001 certified 2024.

Machine vision product development (Hikvision)

Sensor-lens system thinking: MTF, distortion and BFL as production realities, not datasheet lines. Every RFQ is reviewed for sensor match, working distance and tolerance budget before we quote.

Optical manufacturing quality management (Asia Optical)

Element-level quality control: centration, surface form and coating acceptance criteria — the same checkpoints that now sit on the Hangzhou factory floor.

Electronics-scale supply chain (Foxconn)

Volume discipline: sampling plans, traceability and escalation paths at consumer-electronics scale. 10K+ batch consistency is a managed process, not a slogan.

Display optics & customer-facing quality (LG Display)

Cross-cultural QA communication: evidence-based reporting for global customers — the habit behind batch test reports that ship by default.

Volume optics sales & supply (Sunny Optical)

Customer-side empathy: what buyers actually audit, and why they walk away. We compete on optical certainty and documentation, not the cheapest quote.

Lensmind Optics — Zhongshan HQ, Hangzhou factory

Design + manufacturing under one accountable team. Your RFQ is reviewed by the same engineers who own the build through production. Two founders, one rule: the standard shipped to CASC-, Hikvision-, Foxconn- and Sunny Optical-tier customers is the standard that ships to yours.

[01]

Your spec gets challenged.

Engineering reviews sensor match, FOV/working distance and the tolerance budget before quoting. Unachievable targets are refused at RFQ — not at mass production.

[02]

10K+ consistency is managed.

Sampling plans, batch test reports and traceable metrology from Foxconn- and Sunny Optical-tier discipline. Details → quality assurance.

[03]

Escalation hits a founder.

Both founders sit on the production side. A tolerance question or schedule conflict reaches someone with authority — fast.

Engineering first. We do not win on being the cheapest quote. Price-only programs we will respectfully lose.
Evidence over adjectives.MTF, distortion, BFL, DOF, IP67, IP68, autoclave — numbers mapped to tests we can run.
Your program, protected.NDA before drawings move; tooling stored free for 5 years; 50% advance + 50% before shipment.
The repeat order is the product.Prototype-to-mass on a schedule confirmed per project — same envelope as the sample you approved.

One Team, Nine Product Lines

What We Design and Build In-House

One design and manufacturing team supports nine product lines. Each card opens the catalog — models, drawings and the process capability that line proves.

Certified System · Hangzhou Factory

ISO 9001 — The Only Certification We Claim, Because It Is the One We Hold

ISO 9001 certified in 2024. No borrowed badge wall. The rest of this console is in-house capability you can walk: Trioptics centration, MTF, optical cleaning, CNC seats for 1 μm active alignment.

One certificate, honestly held

Incoming inspection, in-process checkpoints, final test as the release gate, and batch-number traceability from your dock back to process data. A badge we have not been issued would be a strange way to start a trust conversation.

Full test matrix, named instruments, paperwork → quality assurance

Trioptics centration — measured open

Element tilt and decenter on a Trioptics centration system, plus a reflection-type centration meter during assembly. Errors are corrected while the lens is still open — not scraped after the barrel closes.

Tray of Lensmind lens barrels on an MTF bench with measured curves on the monitor

MTF on production instruments

Contrast at each spatial frequency and field height — measured, not simulated. Batch test reports ship with the order. Collimation-referenced MTF is the release gate, not a brochure curve.

Optical cleaning station at the Lensmind Hangzhou factory

Cleaning before the cell closes

Optical cleaning and Class 10,000 (ISO Class 7 equivalent) assembly cells, zoned apart for medical and harsh-environment builds. Hermetic packaging keeps the path clean for the service life — including IP67 / IP68 duty.

CNC precision machining of optical seats at the Lensmind Hangzhou factory

CNC seats that make 1 μm active alignment real

Housings, barrels and optical seats machined in-house so later 1 μm active alignment is not fighting a crooked foundation. Design, machining, coating, cementing, assembly and metrology never leave the Hangzhou factory.

About Lensmind — Quick Answers

Twelve Questions Buyers Ask About Who We Are

Who founded Lensmind Optics?
Two co-founders with complementary backgrounds: one R&D founder (Zhejiang University optics, 20 years in the field, with R&D and product management roles at CASC and Hikvision) and one manufacturing founder (26 years in optics, with quality, procurement and sales management roles at Asia Optical, Foxconn, LG Display and Sunny Optical). Together they cover both sides of the business your order depends on.
Does “26 Years of Mastery” mean the company is 26 years old?
No. It describes the founding team’s accumulated optical practice — up to 26 years per team member. The company itself was registered in 2019, and we keep the two claims strictly separate: careers and company milestones are never borrowed from each other.
What does the founding team’s background actually cover?
Both sides of the business: lens R&D and product management on one side, and quality, procurement and sales management in volume optics and electronics manufacturing on the other. We describe these as team members’ career backgrounds — verifiable facts, not endorsements from any former employer.
Where are you located? Can we visit?
Manufacturing runs at our factory in Lin’an District, Hangzhou, Zhejiang; our office is in the Torch Development Zone, Zhongshan, Guangdong. On-site audits and scheduled video factory tours are both welcome.
Why Zhongshan?
Greater Bay Area supplier radius, a deep optics talent pool, export logistics via Shenzhen/Guangzhou ports, and a cost structure that funds metrology instead of overhead. The Hangzhou factory sits in the Lin’an optics cluster near Zhejiang University; Zhongshan HQ sits in the export corridor.
What certifications do you hold?
ISO 9001, and only ISO 9001. A certification wall we have not earned would be a strange way to start a trust conversation — we display what we hold and nothing else.
What products do you manufacture?
Nine lines: FA machine vision lenses (30 catalog models), M12/S-mount high-precision lenses (H/T series), telecentric lenses (YT & LMJJ, 0.14X–6X), line scan lenses (4K–16K), electrowetting liquid lenses (ZWA), endoscope optics (OD < 2.0 mm), thermal imaging lenses (LMXHG, 41 models), wide angle lenses (144–220°, incl. 20MP flagships), and custom OEM/ODM programs.
Are you a factory or a trading company?
A factory. Design, machining, coating, cementing and centration, cleanroom assembly, active alignment and metrology all run in-house — see the evidence on the Manufacturing page.
How do you protect our drawings and IP?
NDAs are signed before drawings move, custom tooling is stored free of charge for 5 years, and custom design IP belongs to the customer. Your program’s assets remain yours.
What are your payment and lead-time terms?
50% advance and 50% before shipment; prototype-to-mass and repeat schedules are confirmed per project at quotation.
Do you compete on price?
No. We compete on optical certainty, batch consistency and documentation quality. On purely price-driven programs we will respectfully step aside rather than quietly remove the metrology that protects you.
Who replies to my inquiry?
Technical inquiries are routed to engineering staff who own the product line involved. Expect your specification to be challenged where needed — at RFQ stage, not after mass production.
